Locals join forces for the Newtown Festival 2014
Newtown Locals is a real community gathering of what Newtown hospitality has to offer and in its first year we took back a little part of the Newtown Festival. Some of Newtown’s most friendly faces came together to create a kitchen and café for the day and one seriously delicious plate of food for festival goers.
It was a massive undertaking by all involved, we were seriously chuffed to be asked to be a part of the Locals. Spearheaded by Mary's, the Locals this year were Bloodwood, Hartsyard, The Stinking Bishops, Young Henrys, Oscillate Wildly, Rising Sun Workshop, Earl's Juke Joint and Blackstar Pastry to deliver one delicious tray of food, coffee and hangs with Newtowners and Sydney siders alike.
Headed by Jake and Kenny from Mary's the festival menu comprised of 5 items that Locals collaborated on in teams delivering choices on smoky BBQ Angus short rib, succulent charcoal flamed chicken and a choice of vegetarian sides finished off with a delicious collaboration between Black Star and Hartsyard.
Young Henry's and Earls Juke Joint collaborated on the beverages offering an orange, thyme thirst quenching aid.
Single O, Five senses beans came through the machine as delivered by Rising Sun Workshop and 212 blu.
But really... it wasn't as much about the food as it was about us getting together and giving back. Some shots of the team in action.
